REPORTING THREADS

I know that I'm not around enough, as are none of the other moderators, and I apologize for all of us as a whole.

BUT! Please please please report posts that shouldn't be here. We don't allow the sale of puppies or kittens, but let's all be honest here, the sale of any pet is frowned upon. Being rude or nasty to each other is strongly discouraged. And spamming will get you banned for life.

WE depend on YOU-the loyal members of this forum, to let us know when someone is posting something that is against the forum rules.

Thank you all!
Lisa

    Forum Rules
These rules are designed to help keep this forum a peaceful and helpful place. The rules are not up for debate, but if you have any questions please PM a member of the Moderator team:

    dlaura
    Shockadine
    TIFFERS
    _Lisa_

    The Short Version
Here is a quick recap of the rules that are easy to remember!

    1. Try to be nice to each other.
    2. Personal attacks are not allowed; posts containing personal attacks will be deleted.
    3. Do not create threads to open yourself up to public scrutiny.
    4. Do not tell a member where or what they can or cannot post.
    5. Limit your chatspeak, do not replace whole words with single letters or numbers.
    6. Don't create multiple accounts.
    7. Don't post spam or reply to spam-report it!
    8. One thread per topic.
    9. Do not ask the members for money.
    10. Do not belittle each others religious/non-religious beliefs.

    The Long Version
This section breaks down each rule to further explain what will be moderated and to also explain what a moderator will do to resolve an issue.

    Topic: Politeness
Try to be nice to each other. We all understand that not everyone will have the same opinions, nor will everyone be able to get along. But because we all want to give our pets the best care possible, it might mean taking advice from someone you usually disagree with or just don't like in general. That doesn't mean you have to be rude or condescending or personally attack each other.

A few examples of a personal attack would be making fun of or harassing a member based on appearance, level of education, upbringing, etc., or calling the member "ignorant" or "stupid" or "dumb" or "an idiot."

A more specific example would be:
A member stating: "you are stupid and an idiot" is attacking.
A member stating: "your idea is stupid and idiotic" is not attacking.

Also, be aware of the tone of your posts and how the words you use might be portrayed by others. The forum settings will already block most inappropriate words, but please use discretion when using words that are commonly deemed inappropriate.

Moderator Actions: Moderators will not step in when members are rude to each other unless there is a personal attack. The members of this forum need to be able to communicate with each other without moderator intervention every time someone feels as if another member was being rude. Everyone defines "being rude" a little differently and the moderator team would go crazy trying to please everyone.

If you personally attack another member your post will be deleted. If you see a personal attack that has not been deleted please use the report function to alert the moderator team.

    Topic: Petlovers.com is not Exclusive
The members that follow the rules set here are welcome to post on this forum. Do not take it upon yourself to tell a member that they are not welcome to post here, and do not open yourself up to scrutiny and ask the open forum how well liked or disliked you may be, or if you are "allowed" to stay after an argument or disagreement. One member does not represent the whole (not even 10 members represent the collective!)

Moderator Actions: Threads or posts where members tell others that they are not welcome on Petlovers.com or that they cannot post on a particular thread/subject may be deleted, and the member will receive a public reprimand, a private PM, or both, depending on moderator discretion. Any threads created for the purpose of asking if you are "allowed" to stay on the forum will be locked, and if any other member reads the thread they should report it instead of commenting.

    Topic: Chat Speak
Limited chat speak is tolerated, such as:

    OMG (Oh My Goodness)
    LOL (Laughing Out Loud)
    ASAP (As Soon As Possible)
    IRL (In Real Life)
AFAIK (As Far As I Know)

Chat speak that is not tolerated is tYpInG LYkE tHIs, misuse of one letter words (like 'r' for 'are' and 'u' for 'you'), or using numbers in place of letters (trust us, no one here cares how l33t you think you are, take it somewhere else!)

Moderator Actions: Members that are in violation of this guideline will receive a public reprimand on the post in question, a private PM, or both, depending on moderator discretion. Depending on the severity of the violation, the post in question may also be deleted.

    Topic: Multiple Accounts
Do not create multiple accounts in an attempt to pretend to be someone else.

Moderator Actions: From this point forward, if you create a second account it will be banned with all of its posts deleted. For those of you that already have a second account, the moderator team has discovered it and flagged your accounts. If you use the second account again it will be banned at that time.

    Topic: Spam
Do not post meaningless or inane messages, chain letters, one word responses, bump old threads, plagiarized content, or post the same message across several threads.

Spam can also exist in signatures. Signatures that contain links advertising yourself, products, services, or other web sites are generally OK as long as you are an active member that contributes with genuine and purposeful messages.

Examples of spam that will not be tolerated: advertisements for porn, weight loss, drugs, gambling, non-pet related products, and the selling of puppies and/or kittens.

If you see a post, signature, or receive a PM you believe is spam, please report it so it can be taken care of quickly.

Moderator Actions: If you post spam it will be deleted, and if your only posts are spam posts then you will be banned. Forum members with links in their signatures that are not contributing with helpful and meaningful content will be considered spammers and will be banned with all posts deleted.

    Topic: Multiple Threads/Posts per Topic
One current thread per topic please.

Moderator Actions: Multiple threads or duplicate posts on one particular topic will be deleted or merged together. The member may receive a public reprimand on the post in question, a private PM, or both, depending on moderator discretion.

Topic: Multiple and/or Consistent Rule Violations
Rule violations are only to be handled by a moderator. If you find someone in violation of a rule please use the report function so the moderator team will be made aware of the situation.

Moderator Actions: Moderators will discuss each situation and will decide on a course of action, which can range from public or private reprimands, or a temporary ban to a permanent ban.

    Topic: Soliciting Money
Do not solicit members for money for any reason or cause. Legitimate sites that accept donations like www.theanimalrescuesite.com, www.aspca.org, www.hsus.org, etc. can be posted on the forum, but only as long as the poster is not asking anyone to donate money.

Moderator Actions: Threads or posts created to solicit money will be deleted. Moderators will discuss each situation and will decide on a course of action, which can range from public or private reprimands, or a temporary ban to a permanent ban.

    Topic: Religious Consideration
Everyone should have respect for each other and the many religious beliefs represented on this forum. Respect that some members may believe in one God, or many Gods, or no God at all. Being considerate means to not use curse words or make comments that devalue another person's religious values.

Moderator Actions: Members that are in violation of this guideline will receive a public reprimand on the post in question, a private PM, or both, depending on moderator discretion. Depending on the severity of the curse words or comments, the offending posts may be deleted.

All rules are subject to change as the forum expands to new members and topics. All members are held to the same standard. Please do not make assumptions that broken rules are not addressed just because you don't see it on the open forum.

Having a dog completely fulfills my need to be called Mommy.

"I shall pass this way but once; any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again."

Apologizing does not mean that you are wrong and the other one is right. It simply means that you value the relationship much more than your ego.
